Ireland’s leading container terminal is proudly operated by Peel Ports Dublin. Marine Terminals Ltd (MTL) produces a throughput of 250,000 TEU’s per year, with direct LoLo connections to the UK, the Netherlands, France, Iberia and onwards worldwide.

Peel Ports Dublin has a rich history we’re proud of, and we’ve invested heavily to ensure an equally exciting and industrious future. Over the last ten years, we’ve invested over €30 million across MTL’s infrastructure, making Dublin one of the safest and most technologically advanced container terminals in Europe.

We pride ourselves in forging excellent relationships with everyone we work with and offer bespoke solutions to our customers. Companies already working with us to manage and control their supply chains efficiently and effectively include BG Freight, CMA/CGM, DFDS, MacAndrews and Seago Maersk.

Ireland’s premier container terminal

MTL has the flexibility, resource and equipment to ensure a safe and efficient turnaround of vessels. Further to this, MTL has the deepest draft and longest quay wall for container vessels arriving at Dublin Port.

Geography, determination and Irish resourcefulness have all contributed to make MTL the country’s premier container terminal, which handles an average throughput of 170,000 TEUs every year. We handle almost a third of Dublin’s containerised goods and nearly one in five of the entire country’s containers.

MTL regularly handles over 1000 container movements per day without delays, ensuring our customers goods reach their point of consumption in a timely fashion. Throughput at MTL shows continual growth as we both welcome new customers and witness the volumes increase for our existing users of the port.

We also own and operate Dublin Containers & Transport Services Ltd (DCATS), which provides a fast, efficient maintenance, repair and depot management solutions for our customers including everything from container repairs, onsite depot work and reefer storage. DCATS has the added value of location as the depot is on our port estate adjacent to the container terminal, resulting in competitive shunting rates.

If you need flexibility, dedication and resourcefulness, Peel Ports Dublin is the right place for you.

SOLAS Container Weighing.

With all containers converging on ports to be loaded on ships, terminals have been suggested as the most logical point in the supply chain to weigh boxes. The Port of Dublin has undertaken a lengthy consultation process with the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) and its customers to develop a system that will help avoid potential export disruption for exporters. The Port of Dublin has the ability to weigh all containers as part of an in-process weighing scheme, which will not impact on productivity.
